Yes, TIPS is available in your area. Both classroom and online training are available across the country and in most places worldwide, so anyone can be trained in the TIPS program. However, some jurisdictions do regulate server training. Select your state for more information about whether or not TIPS is accepted in your area.

For all programs, TIPS card holders must complete state-approved training and pass a certification exam every two, three or four years depending on the specific state requirements. If your TIPS card has expired, you must enroll in a upcoming class or online course, complete and pass the exam to receive a new certification card.

The course requirements for an eTIPS course are as follows:
  • A color display with at least 1024 x 768 pixels
  • Audio for use in viewing videos
  • At least a 56K Internet connection, much faster preferred
  • An HTML5 compliant browser - preferably scoring at least 290 or better on the HTML5 test. Internet Explorer 9.0 is adequate for Windows users, but a more recent version is preferable.
The eTIPS courses currently available are eTIPS On Premise, eTIPS Off Premise, eTIPS Gaming, eTIPS Concessions, eTIPS University, eTIPS On Premise - Spanish as well as many jurisdiction-specific courses.
While you can take an eTIPS course on virtually any mobile device, practically speaking it will be a more comfortable experience on a device featuring a larger screen (one of the so-called "Phablet" phones or tablets with a screen 7" or larger). This is because many of the screens have large amounts of text and/or images, and in order to display it all, the text quickly becomes too small to actually read on a small screen. Enlarging the screen to "zoom in" on text so it can be read, in that circumstance, can then make buttons or interactive elements hard to find.
