Government Relations and State News

Our Government Relations Department works closely with every state's liquor authority to stay up-to-date on state and local alcohol laws and regulations. Whether itís a list of state laws, application forms, or how to contact your local liquor authority, we can assist you with any information you may need to conduct or receive training anywhere in the country.

Throughout the course of the year while state legislatures vote on laws and regulations specific to the alcohol industry, our Government Relations Department is communicating with agency leaders and researching how these laws might affect our trainers and servers. Periodic Action Alerts and links to the web site with these laws or potential legislation will be sent out and available for your review. If there is potential legislation in your state that could affect your establishment and employees (either positively or negatively), HCI can help. We can assist you with contacting your legislator, forming a coalition, or getting something in writing to explain your cause.

As part of our training support, we offer access to a database of State Alcohol Laws & Regulations. The database contains a state-by-state breakdown of the laws and regulations governing the promotion, sale, and service of alcohol beverages, and highlights any special liability pertaining to specific states or jurisdictions. View a sample report.

The State Alcohol Laws & Regulations database is available free-of-charge to all active TIPS trainers, and to Certification Manager subscribers as part of their paid subscriptions. Learn more about Certification Manager.
