TIPS for the University Certification Levels
|
Trainer Level
With trainer-level certification, student leaders or administrators at your campus become certified to train your student body in the TIPS concepts and strategies. These individuals then offer TIPS training to your student body with a message that is tailored to your own institutional culture and needs. Universities have found success through both peer-to-peer and administrator-to-student training. Having a TIPS trainer on campus is a convenient way to meet your alcohol education goals and ensure that your entire student body is trained.
To certify as a TIPS trainer, an individual must attend a one-day workshop and successfully complete the trainer-level certification exam. Trainer certification is valid for a period of one year. Active trainers can recertify annually by exam.

Student Level
Student-level certification offers the knowledge and intervention strategies that protect your students, your school, and the community from alcohol-related tragedies. To certify at this level, an individual must attend a 2-hour session taught by a certified TIPS trainer and successfully complete the student-level certification exam. Student certification is valid for a period of three years.
